Is my device supported?
The Pebblebee application currently supports the following:
iPhone 4s or newer
Android 4.4 phones or newer with Bluetooth 4.0
*The Windows Phone App has been cancelled as Microsoft is discontinuing its mobile division.
What can I attach my Pebblebee to?
Anything! The Pebblebee comes with a key ring hole to attach it to anything! You can also purchase additional accessories to make it wearable.
How does my Pebblebee work?
Your Pebblebee communicates with your phone via your phone’s Bluetooth connection. As long as it is in range of your phone, you can track, buzz or flash your Pebblebee at any time.
How do I find my Pebblebee?
Pebblebee offers a number of tools to help find your items. The Pebblebee app translates the strength of your phone’s Bluetooth signal into an estimated distance from the device (not available on new iOS app – for hot and cold range finding on iPhone/iPad, please download PB Dragon (old) app). Once near the device, you can command the Pebblebee to buzz or flash, ending the search. Even if it’s out of range, you can look at the location on Google Maps where the device was last seen. Finally, mark an item as Lost and harness the power of Crowd GPS to find your Pebblebee (currently under re-development on new iOS app).
What is Crowd GPS?
When you mark an item as lost the entire Pebblebee community of users anonymously and securely helps you find your Pebblebee. Anytime someone with the app running passes within range of your Pebblebee, you will get notified with the location pinned on your map. This essentially expands your reach to anywhere in the world. The more family and friends in the Community the better the capability!
How is this different from GPS?
A GPS signal requires communicating with satellites to triangulate your location. In this case, your Pebblebee device communicates directly with your phone using LE BLuetooth technology. LE Bluetooth is faster to connect, less expensive, and uses less battery than a GPS connection. Once your Pebblebee device is connected, the app utilises your phone’s GPS connection to pin your location on a map. The devices themselves do not have GPS connection.
How can I be alerted so I don’t lose my Pebblebee in the first place? What is the ability of the Pebblebee Range Alerts?
You have the capability to receive alerts when the Pebblebee has been left behind.
How does the Multi-function button work?
The button has two pre-programmed settings you can toggle between in the app. Misplace your phone often? Choose the “Find my phone” setting and press the button to send an audible alert to your phone. The other option converts the button into a remote camera shutter to take long range selfies–no need to feel restricted by the length of your arm!
Can I share my Pebblebee? What is a Pebblebee friend?
Yes! You can share your Pebblebee with family and friends so they can also utilise it! If you designate a user as a Pebblebee friend, they can also view it–for example, share the Pebblebee attached to your extra house keys so friends can find the spare key. In the event that you’ve marked your Pebblebee as lost and a designated friend finds it, you’ll be notified of exactly who found your item.
What is the Pebblebee Range?
The Pebblebee has a range of 45 metres depending on interference from the environment. Outside it can have a longer range while inside the range will be reduced by interference.
How small is the Pebblebee?
The Pebblebee Honey is 5 mm thick and 40 mm in diameter and weighs 9 gms.
Is the Pebblebee waterproof?
The Pebblebee has a water resistance level of 4 on the IPX scale. The electronics are inside a durable glass filled ABS case, completely ultrasonically sealed, with a rubber gasket around the battery access panel. We’ve even demonstrated the Pebblebee working under water—although we wouldn’t recommend it!
How long does the Pebblebee Honey battery last?
The Honey has an easily replaceable button battery (a 285 mAh CR2430 battery) that can last up to 1 year depending on usage. For tips on maximising battery life visit the Battery Life section.
Are my Pebblebees secure from other users?
Yes, the devices are only capable of being connected to one account at a time, making your Pebblebee device secure from other users once you have claimed it.
Do I need an internet connection to use my Pebblebee?
No, internet or cloud connection is not necessary to perform the main functions of the Pebblebee device once the devices are claimed (internet is necessary to initially claim new devices). You can still track it down using our range finder, ring and flash the device. There are two primary benefits of having an internet connection. First, any settings you make to the device get saved on the Pebblebee cloud; without it the settings do not save. Second, if your phone has internet, the app can utilise your phone’s GPS, enabling the app to accurately pin your device’s last seen location on the map. If you pull up your in-app map after a time of not having internet connection, then the pin you will see there is the last seen location while your phone’s GPS was on. (Offline mode is currently under re-development for the Android app, we appreciate your patience in awaiting the next update, that will include full function whilst your Android device is not connected to the internet)
How many Pebblebees can I add to my phone?
The most devices recommended to be connected at once would be 10.
Why can’t I create a new account?
Confirm that you are connected to the Internet when setting up your account. You must use a valid email address that is not already associated with an existing Pebblebee account.
I forgot my password!
If you can’t remember your password, please use the “Forgot password” link in the sign-in page of the app or visit https://pebblebee.com/reset to reset your account password.
My Facebook login doesn’t work!
Log into either the mobile Facebook app or the Facebook website. If you are experiencing a password issue with Facebook, change it in the application or via the web site. Verify that Pebblebee has access to your account. You can do this by going to the Facebook Settings page, clicking on the Apps, then under Pebblebee check that the app visibility is “Only Me” and all the Settings are checked and enabled.
Why is my Honey showing as “Far Away” when it’s right next to me?
There are a few common explanations for the app’s inability to connect to the Honey. If none of these apply, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to help!
Your phone needs to be updated to the latest OS
The Bluetooth has become unstable and should be reset
You created multiple accounts on the app
How do I reset the Bluetooth connection between the Honey and my device?
iOS and Android – First try switching Bluetooth off and on in the Settings. If that does not help, shut down for your phone for 2 minutes. Restart your phone, then Bluetooth, then the app. It may take a couple minutes for the Honey to reestablish a connection.
Did I create multiple accounts?
Sometimes users accidentally register for multiple accounts. For instance, you might have originally signed in via Facebook and then later made an account with your email. If this is the case, it’s an easy fix that email@example.com would be happy to help with.
Why isn’t my Honey showing up in the app?
Make sure the device is on first. Confirm your Pebblebee application is closed. Push the multi function button and hold it for 5 seconds to turn on the device. You will hear two beeps when it is turned on. If you hear only one beep (the older version) or three quick beeps (the new version), the device is turned off. In that case, try turning it on again. If you do not hear any beeps, your battery may need to be replaced.
Why doesn’t my Honey beep when I hold the button down?
The most likely explanation is that the battery has died. To replace the battery, use the plastic tool provided in the package and insert into the two little holes on the battery cover and turn about 1/8 a turn, until it stops. If you’ve misplaced the battery cover tool, two ballpoint pen tips can be used instead.
Help! I can’t get the battery cover off!
Sorry about that! The seal on the lid which gives the Pebblebee its water resistance can make it stick a little. You can press on the other side of the Pebblebee device using the battery to push the door out or, use sticky tape to stick to the turned cover and pull straight out. If the tool is lost try using two dull pen tips.
My batteries died sooner than I expected. What can I do?
The Pebblebee comes in high performance mode by default. This means it is transmitting very often to assist in detection. If you are infrequently using the device for finding items it is recommended you change the device’s performance. While connected to the device, go to Alert Settings for that device and turn power saving mode on.The Performance setting allows you to maximise battery life without sacrificing functionality. If you were far away, and looking for your Pebblebee with the range finder, it might take up to 20 seconds to connect with your things on power saving mode. (This setting is currently under redevelopment for the Android app. Please bear with us while we await the next major update from our developer team that will include power mode settings for your devices)
Why is my Honey chirping?
There are a number of reasons it could be chirping:
inconsistent range indicator making alerts go off
other unauthorised bluetooth devices may be trying to connect causing the device to beep

Why can’t I add friends? None show up on the Facebook list!
Using Facebook to add friends to your Honey is enabled by setting up your Pebblebee account through Facebook. If you have used any other method for logging in, it will ask you for access to your Facebook contacts. You can also enter another user’s email to share your device, as long as they also have a Pebblebee account.
I tried to use the multi function button to alert my phone and nothing happened. How come?
First, double check that you’ve chosen that function in the settings for your Honey. If you are running iOS, next verify that your phone is not on silent; due to device standards, the alert cannot override silent settings. Finally, the app must be running for the Pebblebee to sound the alert; make sure you have not fully signed out.
